Danny’s talent on display with gift of gratitude

When you walk through the doors of the Townsville Clubhouse, you can always count on two things, a room full of members engaged in a flurry of activity, and a warm welcome from Danny.

For the last two and a half years, Danny has been a pillar of the positive environment fostered at the clubhouse, tending to the gardens, cooking and cleaning.
Most recently has utilised his time and talent to create a generous gift for selectability employees, who he says have been an amazing part of his life.

“I looked at a range of services selectability provided when I first moved back to Townsville,” said Danny.

“When I came to the clubhouse, I knew that this was the place for me.

“I have made a lot of friends in that time, and the staff have always been so supportive and are very interactive with us.”

One of the major parts of Danny’s love for clubhouse is the tailored support.

“It is such a great little community we have here, everyone is so kind, and we actually have a say in the things we would like to do.

“I have stepped up in recent times to tend to the gardens and help out around the place, I really enjoy being able to cook as well.

“We have even recently put up a shed out the back to suit more activities, it has just been amazing.

“There are sewing classes and art areas, we play a lot of games together, a lot of us get together and socialise outside of the clubhouse now too.

“But it really is the people that make this place that way, that is why I come back day to day, and it is like that for new members that come in as well, we always like to make them feel welcome.”

It is easy to see the sense of pride in Danny as he talks about the community he has helped create in the Townsville Clubhouse.

But it is outweighed by the gratitude he has for the selectability employees that have provided him with unparalleled support.

“That is why I made that plaque, every single member of staff here is so important to me and I wanted to thank them for their support.”
