IWD: Challenge gender stereotypes and discrimination
This International Women’s Day (IWD), selectability CEO, Debra Burden, is calling on regional Queenslanders to challenge gender stereotypes and discrimination in an effort to forge women’s equality.
Themed ‘Break The Bias’, this year’s IWD celebrates women’s achievement, raises awareness against bias and takes action for equality.
Ms Burden said gender stereotypes limited expectations of what women should do and led to discrimination.
“Outdated ideas about women’s abilities still exist in our society and workplaces,” said Ms Burden.
“Don’t be afraid to speak up and constructively challenge views that may be biased or inaccurate.
“Challenging gender stereotypes that prevent women from achieving their potential or contribute to negative perceptions is essential in achieving gender equality.”
IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
