Meet the team: Catherine Purcell

22 August 2022

Meet Catherine – our new Suicide Prevention Coordinator, based in Mackay.

Catherine is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Whitsundays, Mackay and Isaac Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan (SPCAP) including coordinating reviews and engaging with key stakeholders across the region.

Her varied work history ranges from recruitment, finance, administration, WHS and most recently the disability services and mental health sector.

She is passionate about developing relationships in the community and collaborating to raise awareness and promote understanding around suicide.

“To know that you're working to support some of the most vulnerable members in our local community is incredibly rewarding,” said Catherine.

A keen chocolate lover, Catherine enjoys a good book and a giggle at funny TikToks. On the weekends she can be found outdoors connecting with nature, camping and four-wheel driving.

She brings this same energy to her role at selectability. Every day, she strives to do an excellent job with measurable achievements and positive outcomes for the people and communities selectability supports.

Originally from Victoria, Catherine moved to Queensland when she was 19 years old. Her journey led her to settling in Mackay 16 years ago, where she raised two teenagers and developed her career.

Catherine is excited to join the team. She strives to provide whatever service she can to support success for selectability and our consumers.
