Dionne’s role in the Carer Gateway program is to support carers in the Mackay region to make meaningful changes in their lives, increasing their capacity for self-care and achieving a more sustainable caring role.
“I love supporting people to set and reach their goals and live their best life,” said Dionne.
“It's a very rewarding job when you make a positive difference to someone's day.
“I really enjoy working with the people in selectability who have a passion to help others.
In the last 6 months, The Carer Gateway function has grown to support the need for services throughout regional Queensland; that support carers to access free services such as counselling, coaching, group activities and respite.
This growth has attracted divinely passionate about providing wrap around support to carers; the program now has more than 15 employees, all equally as devoted as Dionne.
“I have always wanted to help people in a positive way.
“And to feel at the end of the day I might have made a difference to those struggling with challenges in their lives.

“I'm an optimist, generally always looking on the bright side of life.
“I'm open, honest and friendly, with a big heart, always wanting to help people. I love to laugh and have a pretty good sense of humour.
“I feel that I'm at my best when I'm passionate about something, like most people and I believe I've found my right place, within the Carer Gateway.”
