Meet the team: Eric Lollo
Meet Eric! He has been working in Palm Island since 2022 as a lifestyle support worker.
The 37-year-old Townsville local is a former plumber/roofer, making the change 18 months ago to pursue the career he now loves.
“I was in that industry for more than 20 years, but I realised that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others that require it,” said Eric.
“I was certainly after a big lifestyle change, and I love it now.
“I was born with ADHD, but to me, I think it is a blessing, it makes me very energetic, and I energy being around people.”
A big part of Eric’s role is to support our Palm Island consumers to live their best life, empowering them to build confidence, work towards their goals and improve their mental wellbeing.
In Eric’s case, his strong personality equips him with a desire to make a big difference in the difference in the lives of those on Palm Island.
Whether it’s through individual or group support, through his care and love for the job, Eric is part of the fabric of the Palm Island community.
From fishing, cooking and country to tailored group services, like the QMHW Award nominated Mahie Club and the men’s club, consumers and employees work together to create a safe and supportive environment to socialise and connect with community.
Eric; along with his coworkers and best mate Kane; has a strong involvement in each of these essential services.
Born and raised in Townsville, Eric also spent a large portion of his life in the fishing community of Karumba, located in the Lower Gulf.
“I am a very big outdoors person, and I love to travel with my family!
