Meet the Team - Jacinta Hayter

28 October 2024

Meet Jacinta! A recent starter with selectability in Rockhampton, taking on the role of senior youth worker.

With extensive experience in supporting vulnerable people in the Rockhampton community, Jacinta’s role is key to the expansion of our child safety services within the region.

“Helping create a lifestyle that's safe and healthy for the young people is something that is important to me and being able to do that is what I love most about this role,” said Jacinta.

As a senior youth worker, Jacinta coaches and mentor a team of youth workers in meeting a child or young person’s needs while promoting culturally safe and competent practices within the program.

selectability has been delivering high-quality child safety services across regional Queensland since 2020, ensuring vulnerable young people in our care have the support in place to meet their developmental needs.

Roles like Jacinta’s are key to helping children and young people to build resilience and reach their potential supporting them to develop a positive sense of identity, social skills and the ability to create community connections.

“Being able to provide a service like this in communities is pretty vital.

“For 8 years I have a been supporting people vulnerable in the community.

“I progressed in this and worked my way up to management where I looked after 35 staff and 75 customers.

“I became knowledgeable in the space, and particularly within NDIS.

“It was really rewarding to help make a difference in people's lives.”

Outside of work Jacinta enjoys her social life, from going to the beach, watching comedy acts or singing karaoke with friends and family.

On top of this, Jacinta enjoys stepping out of her comfort zone! Most recently overcoming her fear of heights by skydiving!
