Meet the team: Jessica Lawrance
Meet Jessica! She joined selectability four months ago as a consumer service officer (CSO) supporting our aged care service, bringing a strong passion and a shared commitment to improving the lives of regional Queenslanders.
Based in our corporate office in Townsville, Jess schedules rosters for aged care workers across selectability’s three Lower Gulf facilities: Ngooderi House in Doomadgee, Kukatja Place in Normanton, and Kuba Natha Hostel on Mornington Island.
Late last year, selectability took over the management responsibility of these three First Nations residential aged care facilities, ensuring vital services are provided to their communities.
“I’ve worked in various management positions throughout my career, but recently I decided to move to healthcare and study my certificate in community services,” said Jessica.
“I’ve also worked as a scheduler for community work before, and I really enjoyed it. I wanted to stay in this industry.”
Her motivation for joining the healthcare sector was influenced by her experiences during COVID-19.
“Going through the pandemic and seeing how important these types of services are to everyone—it was a big highlight during that time. I wanted to see where this path could take me.
“… and I love helping people and supporting anyone who has questions.
“I enjoy hearing everyone’s stories and learning how they got to where they are today.
“Everyone has a significant journey, and I feel like I get to be a part of that here.”
Jessica also appreciates the opportunity for continuous learning through her studies and time at selectability.
“It’s been really interesting learning about medications and different health conditions during my studies, and the insight into aged care with my current role allows for great insight.”
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys family life with her husband and their 10-year-old daughter.
“We have hopes and dreams to travel the world with her. One day, we want to go to America. “
“Our daughter wants to be a vet, so we’ve been learning how to care for bearded dragons.
“Next, we want to get a snake!”
Jessica’s dedication to her role is only outweighed by her passion for selectability’s values and personal philosophy to always strive for excellence.
“Sometimes we have bad days but tomorrow is a fresh new day.”
“My advice to those looking at working for selectability is: take a leap. The job is so rewarding, no matter how big or small.”
