Meet the team: John Stibbs
Meet John! He has been working for selectability since 2021 in the Charters Towers region and is currently a team leader – supported accommodation.
Born and raised in Charters Towers, John says he has always wanted to work in healthcare or a related field.
“I have always helped people and have purpose, I also have lived experience of mental health and suicide prevention in my personal life,” said John.
“I also wanted to pursue a personal desire to work in an environment where I was making positive change in people's lives, to feel like the work that I do truly matters,”
Alongside co-team leader, Rikki, John supports consumers across the Charters Towers community by overseeing the delivery of services for our NDIS supported independent living consumers and young people in child safety accommodation.
Joining selectability more than 2 years ago as a lifestyle support worker, John took advantage of our career progression pathway becoming a life coach for clubhouse, and then moving to his current leadership role.
“My time at selectability has allowed me to help others to grow and achieve their goals.
“Whether that was through seeing a young person I supported do well at school or helping a clubhouse consumer learn a new song on guitar.
“It has all made me profoundly happy and honoured to be a part of it.”
John’s tenacity and knowledge of the Charters Towers community that makes him an asset to selectability.
While eagerly motivated in his day to day role, John balances lifestyle to maintain a healthy work life.
“I am family motivated, father of two, an avid musician/music fan, and love involving that in my work where I can.
“I spend my spare time indulging in my nerdier side: Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are my favourite!”
