Meet the team: Kate Ramskill
Kate Ramskill has been working with selectability for over seven years.
Beginning as a Lifestyle Support Worker in Mount Isa, Kate worked her way through selectability’s career progression pathway to become Support Coordination Team Leader.
“I love the people both colleagues and those I work with in the community,” Kate said.
“I love seeing outcomes and the fast-paced nature of my role - every day comes with new challenges.”
Originally from Leeds, United Kingdom, Kate first moved to Australia in 2013 and has worked with selectability since 2015, with a one-year sabbatical to study her master’s in Development Disorders and Clinical Practice.
After graduating from her Bachelor of Psychology, Kate has worked with people in helping roles such as debt counselling, aged care, schools and in the mental health field.
“More recently I have completed a Personal Behaviour Support Plan course to gain further understanding of PBSP in action and for my role at selectability.”
selectability prides itself on its commitment to employees and their career progression, but it is the devotion and passion of those like Kate that help the organisation maintain strong relationships in communities across our footprint.
For Kate, her stunning resume and skillset are all credited to a healthy work life balance.
“Working within mental health it is important to look after your OWN mental health, ensure that you take regular breaks & work purposefully on self-care for example actually putting time aside for the things I love such as walks, listening to podcasts etc.
“I have learnt that it is super important to be open about our own struggles with those closest to prevent burn out.
“Each day is interesting, but it is also challenging in some ways, so I found good self-care has supported me to remain within the sector for the marathon not the sprint!”
