Meet the team: Kirsten Siggins
Meet Kirsten, consumer service officer and the newest addition to our selectability Bowen team.
Born and raised in the southeast Queensland town of Dalby, Kirsten has lived in many different places across Queensland and Western Australia.
Some of her more recent adventures have seen her live in the rural towns of Longreach, Barcaldine, Cloncurry and Condamine.
Having moved around Kirsten has worked across a range of industries before finding her passion in the community services and mental health sectors.
“My very first job was at KFC in Dalby and it was there that I found my voice and became the outspoken person I am today,” said Kirsten.
“A lot of my experience is from learning – I have made mistakes and had many accomplishments in life that I can look back on and find a life lesson.”
After spending her most recent years working as a cleaner in both mining and gas camps Kirsten opened her own cleaning business.
“During COVID I ended up having to close my cleaning business and I started working for a local disability company here in Bowen.
“It was there that I found my love of working with people with a disability and supporting them to find their voice and independence.”
Joining selectability in August 2022 as a lifestyle support worker and moving into the role of consumer service officer just a month later, Kirsten works to complete the intakes for new consumers, rostering support times and acting as the first point of contact.
“Knowing that I am helping someone accomplish something that they may not have been able to do by themselves is an amazing feeling.
“I have come into this role wanting to learn something new every day and rise up to any challenge that may be thrown at me.”
