Meet the team: Lisa Gallagher

27 March 2023

A passion to support people in recovery drives Lisa – one of selectability’s practice supervisors.

Originally from Ireland, Lisa has been living and working in Mount Isa since 2018.

Having spent over 15 years in private practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist Lisa has worked across a variety of sectors including addiction, harm reduction, homelessness, housing, youth services, residential care and disability services.

Joining selectability’s growing clinical team in the newly created role of Practice Supervisor Lisa’s role is to offer a space where staff can receive support in relation to their work practices with an emphasis on the recovery-based approach.

"My role is to support staff to achieve their highest potential with the remit of their role and the overall strategy outlined by their team leaders.

"This allows the staff member to explore their own accountability and also encourages continued development in their role."

Lisa shares that the best part of her job is being able to see people grow and develop.

"It is a very rewarding area to work," said Lisa.

"Having had my own lived experience – it is my passion to support people in recovery and in this sector to develop skills that will allow them to continue supporting that journey in others."

When not at work Lisa enjoys the meditative practices of yoga and pilates as well as spending time out bush camping with her dogs.
