Meet the team: Maryanne Carroll

28 November 2022

Meet Maryanne, Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach and the newest addition to our selectability Burdekin team!

Maryanne has a keen interest in working out how the mind works and while working has been completing a Bachelor of psychological science.

“Starting the degree was something that I had dreamed about for many years,” said Maryanne.

“I love learning about different theories and how theorists before us had the foresight to come up with concepts on how and why we behave the way we do.”

Keen to keep learning Maryanne will also head back to university in next year to start post graduate studies in psychology.

When the role of Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach became available at selectability Burdekin’s Mental Health Hub (to officially open in 2023) Maryanne jumped at the opportunity to join the growing team.

"I was so excited when I saw the role advertised, it has been great to finally be able to apply what I have learnt to my new role.

“As a Recovery Coach I support those who with a psychosocial disability to help them understand the NDIS and develop a recovery plan to ensure they are living their best life.

“And as a Support Coordinator I will help connect our consumers with mainstream and NDIS funded support to help them achieve their goals.

“I am so happy to be able to deliver these much needed services in my local community.

“Many people accessing these services have to do it over the phone or via video link with coordinators and coaches that don’t understand the local community.”

‘If you are in the Burdekin and need support, get in touch with us so we can work with you to get the most out of your NDIS plan.”
