Meet the team: Metta Sands-Patton

4 November 2024

Meet Metta - our team leader in Sarina -  who has been with selectability for the last two years!

Local to the area, Metta started with selectability as consumer service officer, and now manages and coaches a team of lifestyle support workers to deliver a range of programs to the community.

“It is all about delivering tailored services to the needs of consumers with mental ill-health and psychosocial disability,” said Metta.

“A part of my role is to build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across clinical, community and primary health services and represent selectability at local and regional network meetings, forums and events.

Living in the Sarina region, Metta uses her experiences and expertise to understand community need.

“I have lived experience of Anxiety and Depression and understand the impact that mental health challenges as on a person.

“Sarina is a smaller community; everyone will help each other out and so I am glad the consumers feel heard with their supports, needs and feelings.

Part of this result is the opening of our Mental Health Hub on the main street, which has given selectability the chance to deliver more group programs.

Whether this be sewing classes, art and craft, or Rhythm 2 Recovery sessions, locals now have a broader range of activities to help build capacity, develop new skills and strengthen community connections.

“I really love being able to be a part of something special in my community, I love the people I get to work with and our consumers.”
