Meet the team: Nicole Guzowski
With just 2 days until the highly anticipated opening of our new Mackay Mental Health Hub, it seems fitting to highlight regional coordinator, Nicole Guzowski!
Having worked with selectability for the last 3.5 years, Nicole has been an instrumental part of the growth of services across the Mackay region, particularly through her previous roles as a life coach and mental health hub coordinator.
“I have dipped my toe in all sorts of roles previously but could never find one that I could be really passionate about,” said Nicole.
“That was until I found community work.
“A lot of my previous work was in disability and aged care, but I feel like I have really found my place within selectability.”
“I have enjoyed growing with the organisation and I’m excited about the move to our new Mental Health Hub.”
The new facility brings together selectability’s services from three sites across Mackay, into a larger more versatile space on River St.
“Having all of our services under one roof will help to break down barriers for people seeking support.
“It also provides a lot of fantastic benefits for our current consumers – like more activities to choose from and longer operating hours.”
Nicole’s oversees the day-to-day operations of the Mental Health Hub, ensuring services are in line with consumer needs, and building and nurturing relationships with local stakeholders and recruiting a local workforce.
“I love the passionate team who makes it easy to dedicate the best outcomes for our consumers and the welcoming environment we strive for.”
Above all else, is the kind and passionate nature that has been a key to Nicole’s personal growth within selectability.
A growth that has made a significant impact on services in the Mackay region over the last 3.5 years.
“I have a lot of care and compassion to give, and it is a sector that needs and deserves people like that, it is why I started doing this in the first place.”
Nicole and the rest of the dedicated team in Mackay will be at the official opening of the brand-new Mental Health Hub this Wednesday 10 July, from 11am – 1pm at 21 River St Mackay.
The event is open to the community.
