Meet the team: Poppy Annear
Meet Poppy, one of selectability’s growing team of practice supervisors.
Originally from New Zealand, Poppy has been living and working in the Whitsundays since 2008.
Having spent the last 10 years working in the community services sector, Poppy has led a team of social workers and support workers supporting women and children.
“I have also worked as a coordinator at a women’s refuge - supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence,” said Poppy.
Joining selectability’s clinical team working to implement the practice supervision framework, Poppy supports front-line employees to achieve their full potential while improving their knowledge and skills for self-care.
“My role is to work with employees to develop the tools and strategies to effectively support their consumers and also ensure that self-care is a priority.
“One of the main roles of practice supervisors is to support staff with debriefs after critical incidents.”
Poppy’s role also involves engaging with employees to enhance their knowledge and delivery of a person-centred approach with consumers while also providing a safe space for them to explore and reflect on any challenging aspects of their role.
