4 September 2023

Meet Ryan – he is our new human resources officer for our recently launched aged care service and has been working with selectability for the last month.

The role was created in preparation for selectability to take over management responsibility for 3 small First Nations residential aged care facilities in the Lower Gulf.

Ryan says his role is holistic, covering human resources and logistics while working with the local communities to support the needs of aged care residents and their families.

“A part of my role is a lot of groundwork to support our growth while ensuring we are delivering best practice services … and filling roles that we don’t even know are roles yet!” Ryan said.

Born and raised in Townsville, Ryan has held multiple HR positions around North Queensland.

“I have had multiple roles in HR starting at Mater Hospitals, the mining sector, Queensland Health, Townsville Port, and Australia's largest conveyor belt company.”

Together with the general manager of aged care Pania Brown, Ryan has been working closely with former aged care service provider Gidgee Healing during the transition period to meet the needs of residents from Ngooderi House (Doomadgee) Kukatja Place (Normanton) and Kuba Natha Hostel Mornington Island their families and the wider community.

Beyond his role, Ryan is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of our elderly, in regional and remote communities.

“It is very empowering to be a part of the foundations of a new service, so I am excited to see what the future holds.”
