Meet the team: Steven Rea
Meet Steven … the very quiet achiever! Many of you may not know but Steven has been a valued member of the selectability team for an impressive 19 years with his 20th anniversary just around the corner.
He first came to selectability as a consumer and is grateful for the support he received. At 19, he was offered a job with us and has been here ever since!
“selectability took care of me when I was younger and it’s good to give back,” Steven said.
Steven originally started work in Mundingburra, which was selectability’s second office. He has worked in various jobs, including washing cars and helping with AGMs and Christmas parties.
selectability General Manager Townsville, Sally Bawden said Steven had nurtured the growth of selectability, helping set up desks in new offices at Charles Street, Mount Isa and a container for Palm Island.
“Steven is a committed and friendly team member who shares selectability’s values,” said Sally.
“It’s been a pleasure having Steven work with us for so long.”
Steven is responsible for vacuuming and washing company cars, checking the tyre pressures and generally making sure they are fresh and ready to transport our consumers during their shifts. He enjoys his job and the work culture.
“Everyone is really nice here and helpful moving cars for me,” Steven said.
Born and bred in Townsville, Steven enjoys the warm climate. When he isn’t working, he puts his skills to his hobbies.
Steven loves racing, which inspired him to design and build racing simulators. Like the arcade games, his simulators come equipped with a car seat that can slide back and forth. It takes him a couple of months, which he builds for himself and his friends. He may even have one to share with the clubhouse down the track.
For anyone considering joining selectability, Steven encourages it.
“selectability is a good place to work, especially the people. In all my years I’ve never seen a down side to working here.”
