Meet the team: Suzanne Bocking
Meet Suzanne – She has been working for selectability for the last four years in a variety of roles.
She’s worked as counsellor for the Carer Gateway program, supported the Townsville Suicide Prevention Network and worked alongside the CEO as special projects manager.
Most recently she has moved across to the clinical team as practice supervisor/special projects team leader.
Suz was instrumental in the development of the practice supervision framework and procedure to ensure that our community psychosocial supports are delivered in a way that ensures the best outcomes for both consumers and our frontline employees.
Suz’s role involves managing practice supervisors, who aim to:
- support the safety of frontline employees and consumers
- support professional and wellbeing needs
- facilitate debriefs following an incident to reduce burnout
- develop and/or provide education to employees
- create an environment that further facilitates best practice service delivery.
For Suz - working as a part of selectability’s clinical team fulfils a burning passion.
“I love working in mental health- I have really found where I belong,” Suz said.
“I love the flexibility of the organisation.
“There is never a dull moment and there is always so much opportunity - I have had four different roles over my time working here and each one I have really enjoyed.”
Growing up in Sydney, and spending most of her early adult life in Asia, Suzanne has called North Queensland home for the last five years.
Suzanne’s passion for wellbeing of others stems from her early career in the fitness industry, eventually completing her master’s degree in counselling, an industry she has worked in for the last 15 years.
Beyond the wealth of experience and knowledge that she brings to the selectability clinical team, in her spare time you will find Suz managing her own private practice, spending time with her family, and volunteering with her therapy dog in aged care and mental health facilities.
It is this healthy work/life balance that Suz champions through her role in practice supervision to support the wellbeing of frontline workers.
selectability prides itself on its commitment to employees and it is this healthy work/life balance.
“I believe it is important to take care of yourself as you take care of others.
“It’s an easy industry to burn-out and fatigue in but with the right factors in place you can absolutely thrive.
“If you work for selectability or are considering a role in the sector, I’d suggest that you have a practice supervision session. My team and I are here for you.”
