Meet the team: Toneil Warnes
Meet Toneil- she has been working with selectability in Mount Isa for nearly a year as both a life coach and support coordinator.
In her combined role, she not only helps members of the Clubhouse program set meaningful goals that empower them to build lives on their own terms, but also supports consumers in understanding and maximizing their NDIS plans.
"My job involves working with my Clubhouse team leader to support and mentor our Clubhouse consumers through interactive activities," Toneil explains.
"I also assist and empower our NDIS consumers, helping them take control of their NDIS plans to achieve their needs and goals."
With a background in childcare and aged care, Toneil’s caring and supportive nature has made her an invaluable part of the Mount Isa team, which supports over 70 consumers across a variety of services and programs.
"I really love interacting with consumers, meeting new people, and learning new things!"
Toneil originally joined selectability as a lifestyle support worker, shortly after moving to the region from the coast.
Through selectability’s career progression pathway, she transitioned into her current role.
"I am of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Swiss origin. I was born in Townsville but grew up in a small town just south of Cairns.
“I moved to Mount Isa less than a year ago with my husband and daughter, and I’m loving my time here. It’s so different from living on the coast.
“The change has been good for us, and it has opened doors for my family and me to explore new places and meet new people."
Outside of work, Toneil balances her life by spending time with family and friends, camping, reading, and traveling.
She is also studying for her nursing degree, further showcasing her dedication to helping others.
