Mental health Hub about to open in Bowen
Bowen residents will soon have access to a Mental Health Hub providing a range of new mental wellbeing services as leading regional Queensland not for profit, selectability, extends its service delivery to the region.
On offer are a range of NDIS and government funded services to improve the mental wellbeing of individuals and contribute to suicide prevention in Bowen and surrounding areas.
selectability CEO Debra Burden said the organisation had engaged with key stakeholders in the region to understand service gaps and they had identified a clear need for these services in Bowen.
“The community has been telling us for some time that they would like to be able to access our services locally, and we’re responding,” said Ms Burden.
“We have appointed well-known local Luana Land as our Regional Coordinator. Luana is currently seeking a suitable building and is engaging with stakeholders and establishing a strong local network.
“selectability prides itself on providing services that are flexible and tailored to diverse needs of the communities we support and we look forward to working with Bowen locals to ensure that we are addressing the unmet need.”
New Regional Coordinator, Luana Land, said the Bowen community had welcomed selectability into the region and there was growing interest in the services on offer.
“The support we have received so far has been fantastic and I have already had people contacting me to enquire about our planned programs and how to access them,” said Ms Land.
‘Once we open our doors we will be offering group and individual activities; NDIS individual support, support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching; clinical services; and carer support through the Carer Gateway.”
