Mental Health Week: Around the regions
In light of Mental Health Week and World Mental Health day, selectability has been holding various events around it’s footprint, promoting the importance of mental health and wellbeing as we aim to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

Ingham consumers showcase creative skills, soak up nature
Consumers of the Ingham clubhouse have been no strangers to showcasing their creative talents in the past, from recycled dress making to craft pieces.
In light of to Mental Health Week, clubhouse members were tasked with creating an art piece that depicts what mental health means to them. Consumer Karen created this beautiful art piece (pictured) which depicts her experience with depression and anxiety.
Inspired to get out in nature for Mental Health Week, the Ingham clubhouse also visited Jourama falls.
Consumers were able to enjoy 1.5km trek to get to Jourama Falls lookout followed by a picnic lunch and a relaxing swim.
Bowen and Burdekin consumers join forces to shine a light on mental health
Consumers from the Burdekin travelled south this week, heading to Bowen for a colourful day of art, delicious food and positive vibes.
The community event saw a community sausage sizzle, a tour of selectability services, and an art exhibition from local artist Auntie Ivy.
“We had such a great range of people come in from consumers and staff, local businesses, community services businesses and other locals which was amazing!” team leader Skyye said.
“We sold about 6 of Auntie Ivy's paintings, the proceeds for which will go directly back into the clubhouse activities.”
Townsville employees engage with local service providers for common cause
selectability employees from the mental health hub, clubhouse, Carer Gateway and Wadda Mooli Crisis Support Space attended Centacare’s Big Blue Table Breakfast.
This year’s theme focused on ‘valuing workplace wellness’ with many providers in the region coming together to foster workplace wellbeing.
selectability executive team head to Brisbane for Mental Health Week awards
selectability CEO Debra Burden, COO Aaron Farrell and CFO Emma Hennell are in Brisbane this week to support an award nomination of our Youth Intervention BikeShed’s.
The Queensland Mental Health Week community wellbeing award nomination highlights the initiatives focus on intervention, providing activities aimed at promoting positive behaviours and preventing youths from engaging in anti-social activities.
The team will also attend the closing ceremony for the Out of the Mist competition, a showcase that hopes to capture the breadth of that diversity, from the experiences of pain and suffering, caring and empathy for loved ones, through to the elation of conquering obstacles.
