NDIS Price Guide Update - changes to the way you can manage transport
In summary:
-
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has introduced changes that allow you to use your funds more flexibly for transport
-
From 1 March, you will be able to use your core supports for activity-based transport
-
From 9 March (your next roster), selectability will be applying these charges
-
As a guide one hour of support = 56 kilometres
What is changing?
From 1 March 2020 a new NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue comes into effect.
This new guide includes activity-based transport items as part of core supports to increase the flexibility for you to exercise choice and control over your transport.
Until now we have been providing transport at no charge to consumers where there was no transport allocation in NDIS plans. selectability will be applying these changes from your next roster, starting on 9 March 2020.
How will this affect me?
You will now be able to use core supports for activity-based transport. As a guide, one hour of support is equal
to 56 kilometres, so this means that your hours of support may drop slightly.
If you are not maximising the use of your plan you may not notice these new charges. If you have a transport budget we will draw down on this before using your core supports.
Note: If you have chosen to receive a periodic payment for transport, then that payment continues.
Will I need a new service agreement?
No. These changes will be implemented under 5.1 (“Other services from to time to time”) of your service agreement.
If you do not wish to use selectability for activity-based transport servicesplease let your team leader know so we can update our records.
What do I need to do?
If you would like to discuss your options please contact your team leader.
If you are concerned that you don’t have enough funds in your plan to cover transport costs, you may request a plan review.
