Jackie’s story
Jackie’s story

A poet, advocate and an artist – selectwellbeing consumer Jackie has navigated many challenges in her recovery journey, following her diagnosis with Bipolar. After being admitted to Townsville Hospital Jackie started receiving support from selectability through the selectwellbeing program. Since joining the program, Jackie has championed group recovery, more recently starting a writing group at the Mental Health Hub in Townsville, where she writes poetry about her recovery journey.

Chloe’s story
Chloe’s story

Charters Towers consumer, Chloe, was referred selectability in 2023 after being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. In this time, she has consistently had positive outcomes and reached her goals, including, securing part time employment, gaining her drivers license, effectively managing her mental health. Most recently, she overcame her anxiety of being on camera, outlining her experience living with BPD, her lived experience of suicide and her ultimate recovery journey with selectability. Through all of this, Chloe’s demonstrates not only her own triumph in adversity, but the vision in which selectability operates when providing support to regional Queenslanders.

Kay from Mackay shared her story as perfect example of how meaningful social connections make a big difference. Since joining selectability's Mackay Clubhouse program, Kay has overcome challenges, formed close friendships, and now truly lights up the room!

Mitchell’s story
Mitchell’s story

Mitchell sat down with selectability to discuss his recovery journey, now leading a routine and structured lifestyle thanks to the environment fostered by the Townsville Mental Health Hub. The Queensland Health funded program providing those impacted by severe mental illness and not currently on the NDIS with up to 12 months of individual and group support.

Ingham consumer Keara has been receiving individual support and attending clubhouse with selectability for quite some time, as she navigates her life with BPD and anxiety. Throughout her recovery journey, she has continued to reach her goals, build social skills and make new friends. Now, with a better understanding of her diagnosis, Keara is setting out to help her community gain a better understanding of mental health.

Gerald’s story
Gerald’s story

Gerald was diagnosed with an acquired brain injury in 2007, setting him on a path of isolation, after being referred to selectability. Since then Geri says he found his community and says he is now enjoying life thanks to selectability’s group programs.
