New Clubhouses to open across regional Queensland
More regional Queenslanders are set to benefit from selectability's Clubhouse program over the coming year with a recent review finding that employees are engaged and consumers are achieving outcomes.
Clubhouses provide access to healthy food and a safe environment for members to make friends and build the capacity and confidence to participate socially and economically.
Special Projects Manager, leading the review, Suz Bocking said over the next year selectability would work to open three new Clubhouses across regional Queensland and conducting a review to ensure the effectiveness of the current model was vital.
“I am pleased to say that findings of our review showed selectability Clubhouse employees are passionate about their roles,” said Suz.
“During the review period I “mystery-called” four external Clubhouses to compare with selectability’s program.
“After engaging with employees from each, I can confidently say that the findings show our employees are more passionate and clearly love the work they do!
“The review has definitely given us some ideas that we will research and evaluate.
"Whether it’s securing employment, accessing training or learning life skills, selectability's Clubhouse program has achieved practical outcomes for hundreds of members in Townsville and Mackay.
“Based on the findings, there is potential for growth in our Clubhouse model.
“Some of the work order day aspects in particular could do well in our Clubhouses to promote a sense of purpose and belonging.”
Over an average month selectability’s Clubhouses in Townsville (inspire) and Mackay (Horizon) receive around 1000 visits from our member-base of more than 250.
“The program is designed to support engagement, break down barriers to participation, foster skill building, develop self-management and provide access to additional supports."
Keep an eye out for Respect Clubhouse (selectability Corner, Townsville), Harmony Clubhouse (Ingham Mental Health Hub) and Compassion Clubhouse Mount Isa.
