Burdekin Mental Health Hub officially open!

On 18 June 2024, we officially opened our Burdekin Mental Health Hub! Thanks to all who attended this event and made it such a success.

In 2021, selectability purchased the disused Caledonian Hall with plans to transform it into a community hub! Thanks to an $808K grant from the Queensland Government’s Community Infrastructure Investment Partnership Program, along with a $600K contribution from selectability, the $1.4M renovation has seen us deliver an accessible, multi-use facility for individuals and groups across the region to connect and link to vital mental wellbeing support!

Engaging the community
Before finalising the design of the new facility, we undertook extensive consultation and engagement the local community to ensure that the services on offer were in line with community needs.

We found that:

  • 93 per cent of respondents believed the was a need for a dedicated mental wellbeing facility
  • 88 per cent believed the existing range of mental health supports is inadequate or limited.
  • 88 per cent believe a friend or loved one would have benefitted from mental health support over the last 12 months.
