Mount Isa

Mount Isa

As Mount Isa’s largest provider of community and clinical mental health services, it’s no surprise that selectability has seen rapid growth in the region as we maintain our commitment to the health and mental wellbeing of regional Queenslanders.

Located 900 kilometres from the closest major city, the Mount Isa region has limited access to vital mental wellbeing and suicide prevention services.

In 2021, we relocated premises to support growth and better meet the needs of the community.

Establishing a Mental Health Hub and expanding the number and types of services on offer has been an important step to improving community access to vital mental wellbeing supports and suicide prevention programs.

 Our collaborative approach

selectability’s rapid expansion has not only given better access to vital services but allowed for the leveraging of existing services in the region through collaboration with other providers.

This includes:

  • working with the Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN) on the delivery of the Community Service Facilitator program.
  • supporting the ‘Way Back Support Service’ – a collaborative effort with the WQPHN and Beyond Blue to provide crisis support to individuals following a suicide attempt.
  • standing up a new Youth BikeShed in 2023 thanks to a share of selectability’s $1.1 million in government funding.
