selectability officially launches aged care services in the Lower Gulf
selectability has held on-the-ground community meet and greets in three Lower Gulf communities after taking over management of aged care services in September.
CEO Debra Burden, selectability Chair Danielle Hornsby, General Manager Aged Care Pania Brown and a number of employees visited the site of three First Nations residential aged care facilities last week:
- Normanton – Kukatja Place
- Mornington Island – Kuba Natha Hostel
- Doomadgee – Ngooderi House
BBQ lunches were held to introduce the teams to the communities, network with key stakeholders and let everyone know about the services that selectability provides.
General Manager Aged Care Pania Brown said each event was a success, with a positive community presence which allowed for people to ask any questions about our services.
“When the previous provider, Gidgee Healing, decided to transition management responsibility we saw the opportunity to ensure that the residents of these facilities had continuity of care,” said Pania.
“We believe that everyone has the right to the care and support they need to live enriched lives.
“Aged care has been on selectability’s radar for some time.
selectability has deep roots in rural and remote Queensland where it has delivered health and wellbeing services for more than 40 years, including the management of around 50 residential group homes across its large and diverse footprint.
“selectability is committed to working with the Normanton, Mornington Island and Doomadgee communities to understand any service gaps and needs.”
selectability aged care has been endorsed by the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) to deliver services in the Lower Gulf, who were also in attendance at each event.
