selectability welcomes new GM to lead suicide prevention initiatives

31 October 2022

selectability, has further strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Sandra Moore into the newly created role of General Manager, Suicide Prevention.

The urgent need for more suicide prevention support across regional Queensland prompted the introduction of this new leadership role.

selectability CEO, Debra Burden, said suicide was Queensland's leading cause of death in individuals aged 15-44

“Suicide is complex but it is also preventable and we know that regional, rural and remote areas in Queensland have particular risk factors and mental health needs,” said Debra.

“This new role will be working on the ground in the communities that need it most to understand the unique challenges they face and develop strategies to reduce suicide.”

Sandra Moore said she was proud to join selectability to lead the development of the Suicide Prevention Queensland program.

“I look forward to working with individuals and groups across regional Queensland to identify and respond to gaps in knowledge, policy and practice in suicide prevention.” said Sandra.

“I will be responsible for developing, leading and coordinating multiple programs which will be co-designed to meet areas of unmet need.”

Sandra brings to the new position 20 years’ experience in executive and senior leadership roles in government, non-government and the private sector.
