Taking shape - Richmond Update
In late 2024, selectability marked the milestone, expanding our services into the Richmond region, including the recent establishment of our wellbeing hub and the appointment of regional coordinator and Richmond local Renee Backer.
In the last few months, group programs have commenced with consumers enjoying a range of different activities with the community.
“We are really starting to get things moving out here, and I am so excited about it!” said Renee.
“Government-funded groups are running out in the community in the evenings on a Tuesday, Wednesday and a Thursday at the moment, for walking and tennis.
“Our selectwellbeing groups are commencing very soon! Seated fitness activities, bingo, cooking and card games to kick start our group sessions before tailoring to the interests of our consumers.”
Most recently, consumers enjoyed baking and delivering cupcakes to our frontline health team for the Richmond region for International Mental Health Nurses Day.
“I want to give a huge thankyou to Moonrock Café for allowing us to utilise their kitchen to bake and decorate the cupcakes!”
The recent weather event has put small delay on the ongoing works to the Richmond Wellbeing Hub, but Renee says that selectability has been grateful for the community’s support during this time.
“Community backing has been inspirational and incredibly touching, to top it off a local has donated garden beds for our community garden project!
“Richmond Shire Council and Mayor John Wharton have demonstrated their strong support for selectability by upgrading our footpath and driveway access.
“Their ongoing advocacy for selectability highlights their commitment to the wellbeing of their community.”
selectability is excited for the growth and shared community dedication to supporting Richmond locals.
“I have the privilege of seeing first-hand the positive effects selectability is already having in people lives and am so excited for the growth and impact we will have in 2025.”
